Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone knows the major differences between a Brazillian type1 1600 vs its German counterpart. I notice these 2 sound a little differently from each other.

Also, what's with the different looking fan shrouds? (Brazillians have a flat top while Germans are rounded)

Are there any technical differences like static timing, idle speed, etc. Can 1 simply switch distributors between these 2 engines?

Since most aftermarket suppliers of aircooled VWs are in the North American continent, where does the rest of the world buy replacement parts for their Brazillian Beetles which have never been marketed there?
