Hi everyone. after my beetle has been running for a while and i switch off, it is hard to start again. i have to turn over a fair bit while continually 'pumping' the accellorator. any ideas? hopefully someone will reply to this post...

Here's a list of things to check from the trouble shooting section in the VW Bentley shop manual;

-Choke valve sticking
-Bi-metal spring unhooked or broken
-Ceramic plate broken
-Float needle valve sticking and carburetor flooding
-Pilot jet blocked
-Air leak in manifold
-Accelerator pump passages blocked or ball sticking
-Torn accelerator pump diaphragm
-Excessive pressure on float needle valve

These are just a few of the suggestions that I've found. Hopefully this will give you a few more things to look for.

Good luck!
