GEX - since their start out here on the west coast - remains one of the most inconsistant rebuilders in the hobby. Their use of substandard and mis-matched parts, and questionable customer service, makes buying one their engines a true crap shoot. They currently carry an UNSATISFACTORY rating with the Arkansas Better Business Bureau http://www.arkansas.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bid=4001143 . Records from their days out here in Baldwin Park, Ca. are old enough to be dismissed as incomplete (if anyone has archived these records, please chime in). Another of the problems with GEX is the wholesale business. They sell to many retailers, and consequently, many buyers at the consumer level have no idea that they're buying a GEX product. The lure of cheap prices, their ads in this hobby's major publications, and the fact that GEX has been around so long, make for a self-fueled business model. Those new to the hobby would be well advised to research builders and suppliers before spending a dime, regardless of their "shiny appearance", or perceived longivity. There are a few resonably priced builders out there that give you what you pay for ... and stand behind their products. Those who have been in the hobby for a while ... they know better.
