I have a 1969 vw beetle. At high idle I have about 40 pound of pressure for the engine oil and at low idle I have about 25 pounds. Is that good or not so good??? Also what should the operating temp be for the engine oil ???  thanks paul

What does high and low idle mean?  You want about 10 psi per 1000 rpm at operating temp, about 200F.  That means idling at 10 psi is fine.  If the oil is colder than 200F, then you'll see higher pressure, hotter and you'll see lower pressure.  --Ryan
