ok, here's a scenerio: 1835 with a mild performance cam, bigger heads, and some other small performance mods, nothing exciting. I will use the "Johnny's Four Play" 4 barrel manifold, but instead of using a fix cfm carb like a holley, or a Edlebrock, I will use a 750 Cfm Quadrajet. Being and Olds fan too, i have a 800 cfm carb powering my 307 no prob. (q-jets flow very well at lower cfm rates do to the great design, even down to 50 cfm!) is there any thing im overseeing here? it should meter fuel at idle and lower rpm's according to the demand of the engine so it wont be rich at those speeds and provide great midrange and top end, without leaning out. just a shot in the dark here, just wondering if anyone has similar idea's.

What you're missing is that this isn't a small block.  It will never perform as well as a set of dual 2bbls carbs on an ACVW.  The only time you should consider a 4bbls for a VW is when used in a draw through application.  --Ryan
