I just finished my first engine rebuild. (74 beetle) I would like to start it while it is out of the car. Can anybody help me with what I need to do? I've got some idea but I was hoping someone could give me some advise. Thanks

Some days you just want to burn it to the ground and kill it ... other days it saves your life

I made a engine stand using a 2 piece tranny mounted , adjusted valves did timing and fired my type 1 in the living room .
It looked just like the "cherry picker" engine pullers just had no hydrolics and had the 1/2 vw tranny bolted on .
