I just purchased a 72 Super Beetle. When I picked it up, I was told that the turn signals had stopped working for some reason. The hazard lights work fine but when I try to use the turn signals, nothing happens. Any ideas?

Did you check the bulbs? They should be a double contact, 1157.

The mechanism in behind the steering wheel can go bad.  Hit it with electronic circuit cleaning spray and check the flasher under the luggage cover.  One of these will likely be the problem.  Take a look at your fuses too.  The fuse panel is under the dash to the left of your steering wheel.  Even if they look good, make sure that the contacts on the panel are clean and in good contact with the fuse.
I'd rather have a partial bottle in front of me than a partial frontal lobotomy.

I replaced the turn signal switch and they work great now. Thanks

goodonya!  Electrical problems can be vexatious but often are cheap fixes.
